STAND Studio – SFW SS22: The Bold and the Beautiful
STAND STUDIO’S SS22 was loud. But not in an obnoxious way, in an over-the-top, colourful, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun» way. The kind of loud we love. The materials and the colours need no introduction as they speak for themselves. Pink, purple, green, orange, and animal print all stood alongside one another. Bold? Yes. Beautiful? Also, yes.
Founded in 2014, the brand approached their SS22 collection with an evolutionary approach while simultaneously remaining true to their DNA. This translated into the incorporation of the brand’s original fabric favourite, leather, which was coupled with faux furs and jersey material. The use of jersey was a first this season, seen in the street-style comfort of hoodies and sweatshirts.
For Nellie Kamras, founder of STAND STUDIO, this season’s inspiration began with a trip to Los Angeles. And what’s more American than varsity jackets? Available in oversized and cropped, the jackets sport the team’s STAND STUDIO emblem. These can be paired with biker shorts for a more casual, grocery store vibe or with a ruffled, faux leather dress for cool-girl chic.
The SS22 collection “stands” tall with maximised proportions, ultra long pants and oversized coats. This season’s coat silhouettes showed no limits; narrow, belted, and oversized coats – in other words, a coat for everyone and every event. “It’s really fun when you do something unexpected and that’s kind of always how we work,” shares Kamras. This can best be seen in a brown gown-dress made of faux fur – who said faux fur was only for Fall/Winter?
Suits are a staple for STAND STUDIO, but just because they are a staple, doesn’t mean each season they remain the same. Rather, Kamras takes a new approach each and every season. This season, suits were done boldly in animal print, radiating bold, glamour, as well as a magenta, fluorescent pink. The cherry on top? Fur bucket hats. We’ll take one in every colour!
STAND STUDIO never disappoints. At first glance, one would think that elements of this collection wouldn’t work together, yet, Kamras has the unique, creative ability to bring together contrasting colours and prints, to create something epic. The result is memorable, daring, and absolutely outstanding!
