Henrik Vibskov Launches Three-Part Book Series
This May, legendary Danish designer Henrik Vibskov launched a three-part book series entitled simply ‘Henrik Vibskov 1-3’. Chronicling Vibskov’s career from 1997 – 2020, during which Vibskov has worked not only as a fashion designer but also as a musician, artist and curator, the books document Vibskov’s work from his student days at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London to the present day.
Book 1 explores the designer’s work from 1997 to 2012, while Books 2 and 3 cover the more recent period from 2012 to 2020. They offer a glimpse into the designer’s world, and are replete with sketches, drawings, mood boards and photographs of his fashion shows, exhibitions, design studio and musical performances.
Vibskov’s interdisciplinary work has influenced Danish design for over two decades. Since his first collection at Central Saint Martins, Vibskov has experimented with bright colours and playful, geometric prints, qualities that are often missing in traditional Scandinavian design. Silhouettes are often oversized and billowing and his collections are known to have been infused with African, Asian and Mexican cultural influences. A far cry from his Scandinavian contemporaries, Vibskov’s creations lend a fresh perspective on what it means to be a Danish designer today, and always one of our favourites on the CPHFW schedule.
Vibskov’s book series has been released in collaboration with stores all around the world, including Addicted (Seoul), The Standard Store (Sydney), Triple Major (Chengdu), Politikens Boghandel (Copenhagen) and Voo Store (Berlin). In addition the series is available at the Vibskov’s boutiques in New York and Copenhagen, as well as online – prices start at 450 DKK per book and 1.500 DKK for the set.
