SFW AW21 – BLK DNM: Denim is Back in Stockholm in a Big Way
Through the snowy streets of Stockholm, a warehouse photoshoot, and with an essence of an underground Södermalm nightclub, BLK Denim presented their AW21 collection. BLK Denim’s collection is edgy, cool, and with a bit of a retro vibe. Transporting us back to the 70s, with Bianca Jagger and David Bowie as muses, the collection film was an artsy take on a normal presentation.
Layering was a focal point in this collection, as were suits for both genders. A woman’s white blazer was tailor-made to perfection with strong lines and black lapels, paired with a smart black pant. The real show-stopper though were a pair of thigh-high, BLK DNM emblazoned, heeled boots that screamed for my attention.
With ‘denim’ in the name, it goes without saying that we have to talk about their fabulous ‘Canadian tuxedo’. This denim-on-denim look was smartly put together – a paid of high-waisted, indigo jeans and a cropped denim jacket, with a popped collar. Leather jackets were crucial items for both the mens and womenswear looks – the classic black jacket was present throughout many of the collection’s looks, but my personal favourite was an oversized version they presented – perfect for chilly, fall evenings, layered with a chunky knit. I am a sucker for anything leather, and there was one particular jacket that stole my heart. Simple, with a silver zipper and rolled-up sleeves, it was almost a jacket, shirt hybrid of sorts. Either way, I was sold.
Johan Lindeberg brought BLK Denim back to Stockholm and I’m so glad he did. This collection was sleek, edgy, and one that I personally can’t wait to get my hands on!
