Reform x Herz & Blut: Where Aesthetics and Functionality Merge

Originally in design, the sole purpose of the kitchen was to prepare and cook meals. However, throughout the years, the kitchen has progressed into a cornerstone of the home, a social space that creates a sense of connectedness between its inhabitants. It is therefore always enjoyable when like-minded people join forces in order to create, inspire and showcase how this ever-evolving space can be designed to fulfil its many purposes. Danish design firm Reform, collaborated with the Berlin based interior stylist, Jules Villbrandt, for the reconstruction of her new kitchen. The outcome is a beautiful, harmonious space that creates a unique sense of belonging.

Jules is the founder and creative mind behind the online design magazine Herz & Blut which was launched in 2010. No matter the discipline that this multitalented woman works within, whether it’s photography, styling or content creation, Jules has a natural flair for creating beautiful scenarios. In this recent collaboration, Jules created a space that does not only reflect her keen eye for aesthetics, but also Reform’s vision of designing people-centric kitchens.

Established in 2014 by Jeppe Christensen and Michael Andersen, Reform introduced an affordable solution to meet the constantly growing interest in custom-made carpentry kitchens. Known for their modern design, where functionality meets aesthetic minimalism, the cabinets from Reform perfectly complement the clean yet charming layout of Jules’ kitchen. Playing with earthy tones, Jules chose the BASIS cabinet in olive green and natural oak, together with a brushed copper backsplash that features a delicate pink hue. This subtle colour palette balances well with the bright white walls and rustic wooden floors that magnify the feeling of warmth and add a touch of softness to the space.

The open archway which leads into the living room, invites interaction and flow between the two rooms. Painted in light amber pink, the living room exhibits wooden furniture and playful arrangements including a gallery wall and a delightful mix of chairs around the table. Throughout the whole space, Jules displays a large variety of decorative additions such as vases, diverse plants and magazines, that all come together to create a comfortable, homey feeling.

Every element and detail within the space contributes to creating a kitchen that is both visually appealing and functional. The mix of materials, colour combinations and accessories infuse the room with personality, encouraging togetherness, long conversations and naturally, making and sharing of delicious food.
