Makeup Trends and Necessities We’re Loving this Season
2019 was the year for makeup experiments and fast, playful trends popping up on social media, and 2020 is looking to be equally interesting. The SS20 trends that we witnessed on the pre-lockdown runways and red carpets were all about fresh, glowing skin, and this look will certainly not be going anywhere, any time soon. Natural and organic beauty brands are continuing to pop up across the Nordics and beyond, and we have set our eyes on some wonderful makeup-skincare hybrids that promote healthy as glowing skin and hair.

Hybrid Foundation Dreams with Korento
The best ‘no makeup’ makeup look is achieved by treating your skin with products that are most suitable to your skin type (for some tips, have a look at our skincare guide). We’re all about makeup products that are not only beautifying, but have some nourishing properties too. To achieve an effortless, dewy makeup look, prep your skin with an oil before applying foundation – it will make your foundation easier to apply and your products easier to blend.
If you have oily skin, or don’t want to go all in with an oil, apply the face oil only to the highest points of your face, to get that light reflecting effect. Another trick is to mix your oil with a cream highlighter, or choose an oil-based foundation, such as the Serum Foundation from Finnish natural brand Korento Cosmetics. This alluringly lightweight foundation is enriched with organic berry extracts and gives the perfect healthy glow. It will also even out your skin tone and leave you with a lovely, youthful finish, while intensely hydrating and nourishing your skin at the same time!
Achieve Glowing Skin with Kjær Weis
A healthy, flushed and blended glow of blusher is best achieved with layering, and the easiest way to do this is with a cream blush. Here we’re turning to the queen of cream blushes, Danish makeup artist Kirsten Kjær Weis and the founder of namesake cosmetics brand Kjær Weis.
Kjær Weis introduced a new addition to their beloved and easy to use cheek products; the new, luxurious Flush and Glow Duo compact which holds the brand’s best-selling, buildable cream blushers and, depending on the colour, a complementing cream bronzer or cream highlighter. The on-the-go Flush and Glow compact comes in four different shades, providing you with an easy product you can use to create a natural, fresh-faced look wherever you are.
‘Luminous Flush’ is a combination of a neutral rosy blush, suitable for many skin colours and is complimented by a bronzer with a reddish undertone. ‘Sunlit Glow’ comes with warm, coral toned blush suitable if your skin has neutral or golden undertones, and a gold bronzer that will goes best with cooler undertones. The ‘Inner Light’ duo contains a warm, amber blush that balances redness-prone cheeks, and a cool, pearly highlighter to go with it, while the ‘Vibrant Ray’ set comes with a deep, coral blush, which is an ideal shade for medium to dark olive skin, and a beautiful, soft gold highlighter.
Get Juicy Lips with Comme Deux
When it comes to lips, a glossy, light pink lip is a huge trend right now, and is easier to pull of than a crisp red look. Juicy lips are best on their own, styled with feathered eyebrows and all natural eye makeup, and of course, dewy skin! Stained, matte lips and an almost black shade of purple are also trends you could try. There’s so much choice!

Artsy Eyes with Glossier Play
When it comes to eye makeup, you can get playful and experimental with colours and styles, because anything goes these days! Whether you’re going for a white liner, a bright colour in the inner corner of your eyes, pops of blue, or a smudging of pastel purple all over the lid, this eye makeup trend is all about being playful and creating exaggerated shapes.
