Unika Interior – making interior design accessible, sustainable + affordable
Unika Interior was born in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. One evening, we started talking about the fact that we all had very different talents – Elena is a strategic thinker and great at logistics, I have a wealth of experience in marketing and branding, and Beatrice is a true artist and styling expert. And so, almost naturally, thinking about how much people were confined to their homes, we decided that everyone deserved a cozy home!
Unika Interior offers an interior decoration and furnishing service with 3 main values: affordability, accessibility & sustainability. We want to challenge the idea that having an interior designer at your service is something luxurious and unattainable. Thanks to Beatrice’s design talent, we offer this service online, catering to our clients’ budget and sourcing local, second-hand items as much as we can.
Working with clients across Europe, we start off the process by looking at their existing space and finding out what they want the space to do and look like. Beatrice then creates a floor plan and initial sketches, in which she proposes a certain style, suggested layout and a colour palette. Once the initial ideas are approved, we create 2D renderings of the space and the furnishings, and start the physical transformation!

A lot of people think that interior design studios and services are complicated, expensive and not necessary. A beautiful home doesn’t need be full of expensive items and cost a fortune, a beautiful home just needs time and personality. The role of an interior designer is to understand each homeowner’s personal style and transfer that to the walls, floors and furnishings.
Our idea of interior design is different from the antique concept you might have heard of. We believe in a modern, easy, human approach: these are just 3 principles that have guided us from the very beginning: accessibility, affordability and sustainability. We make interior design easy, understandable and fun. Our goal is to help you take your ideas and visualise them. We also want our services to be available and affordable to everyone, taking into consideration your budget throughout the design process and don’t charge anything until your happy with the final sketch, no surprises! Now, we know everyone is talking about sustainability, but we promise we’re not green washing; we believe that local boutiques, small brands and vintage markets are the best places to shop for unique items to fill your home, so that’s where you’ll find most of our purchases come from.

While working on our interior design projects, we’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with many talented artists from across Denmark, adding their beautiful artwork to our clients’ homes across Europe. Once we saw how much joy these collaborations brought to our clients, we asked ourselves ‘how can this more accessible to everyone, regardless of if they use our services?’ Say hello to our Decoration Sets! The 4 decoration sets available on our online boutique are artful compositions you can use to decorate shelves, cabinets, or window sills, with creations from local artists and artisans, that Beatrice has curated with care and love. Each set represents a different time of day, utilising colours and shapes to harmonise your interior: ‘Calm Evening’, ‘Sunny Day’, ‘Bright Morning’ & ‘Joyful Afternoon’.
As you can tell, our interior designer, Beatrice, plays a key role in the creation and styling of all our interior design projects: inspired by her Italian background and her years working in Denmark, she mixes Mediterranean textures and style, with traditional Scandinavian materials like wood and stone. ‘What’s her favourite interior mood’, I hear you ask? Simple and rustic.
