Get to Know: Cappelen Dimyr

Home is where the heart is. And as of late, home is also where we spend most of our time. In a world where the highlight of the day is moving from the bed to the kitchen, we’ve become more focused on our immediate surroundings and our interiors. Your bed is important, your favourite chair is important and your desk is important, but what do they all have in common? They all rest on top of a rug. The foundation of a home is quite literally a rug, and for Cappelen Dimyr, it’s the “starting canvas for the room’s identity, calm but confident at the same time.”

Founded in 2018, Cappelen Dimyr is a Scandinavian creative collective, with the goal to offer a quiet, yet contemporary luxe line of handmade rugs with a unique design DNA: conscious, crafted and personal.

We wanted to create the kind of pieces that we missed and wanted for ourselves: Rugs designed with the modern bohem in focus. Natural colours in the finest qualities that together creates an organic imperfection. We strive to create a contemporary cosiness and want our rugs to be the starting element of a personal and conscious home.

Cappelen Dimy’s rugs, which are handcrafted using traditional techniques by artisans in India, are true works of art. Their inspiration? “We find inspiration in the natural elements and crafts from all over the world. The identity of the Cappelen Dimyr design is a cross between the ‘quietude’ evoked by the natural materials of classic Scandinavian design and a sophisticated bohemian look.” With a simple range of names from no.01 to no.07, textured and fringe edges and curved arcs and square shapes characterise the rugs; creating an intriguing and captivating feel. Cappelen Dimyr is the manifestation of contemporary bohemian-chic and I love them!
