Marimekko X Adidas: The Poppy and Three Stripes are A Match Made in Heaven
Continuing on from the success of their first collaboration together last spring, Marimekko and Adidas have reunited to create a FW21 collection. Joining forces in their respective disciplines, the collection gets the best of both worlds – Adidas’ functionality and Marimekko’s classic prints. It is truly a match made in heaven, and I have been beyond excited to get my hands on the new pieces.

The collection includes a wide variety of functional styles; everything from swimwear, to tennis and training basics. The iconic Unikko print – Marimekko’s poppy flower that we all know and love – takes center stage this time around, in soft pink, beige and orange, which brings a classic Marimekko feel to the collection. There’s also a hint of gold glitter on some of the styles, adding a glamorous edge to the overall look.
“Key pieces from the collection have been made in part with recycled materials and Parley Ocean Plastic. Parley Ocean Plastic is upcycled plastic waste intercepted on remote islands, beaches, coastal communities, and shorelines, preventing it from polluting our ocean.”
Among some of my personal favorites, is the poppy flower zipped sweatshirt in orange, the black Unikko printed track pants with gold, glittery stripes, as well as the black cropped track jacket with matching gold elements. For a Scandinavian winter, the super soft and comfortable sweatshirt is the perfect item to wear over leggings and a sports bra for that morning cycle to yoga – it keeps you warm AND adds the necessary pop of colour to brighten the dark winter days. Their black boxy, oversized track jacket has just the right amount of quirk, with its’ gold glitter stripes and subtle Unikko print in black, is the perfect item to wear when you want to mix cool with quirky! I love styling my track pants and jacket with a white shirt or coloured turtleneck, mixing sporty with classy; and honestly, what is better than looking great and feeling super comfortable?
