Targalte Stockholm Combines Moroccan and Swedish Influences

Taragalte Stockholm, an emerging Swedish-Moroccan fashion label, mark their debut with the launch of their first collection. A collaboration between Morocco’s Taragalte Festival and Imane Belmkaddem, the founder of Stockholm International Fashion Fair, Taragalte Stockholm brings together Swedish, Moroccan and Berber cultures.

The brand is already making waves thanks to their distinctive designs, hand-woven custom-made pieces, and flamboyant colours. The collection acts as a visual representation of Imane’s Moroccan heritage and Stockholm’s architecture, particularly the colourful townhouses of the iconic Stortorget, which served as an inspiration for the range.

Designed in Sweden and handmade by Moroccan artisans using natural, local products, including leather, woolen carpets, Berber jewellry and cowrie coral, Taragalte’s philosophy is that every woman deserves a unique outfit complimenting her unique beauty and personality.

“What inspires me in Moroccan fashion is the sense of detail, the delicacy and craftsmanship, the wealth of materials, fabrics, jewellery, and especially the colours that generate some incredible joie de vivre. When it comes to Swedish fashion, I adore the simple and minimalist style that is both elegant and trendy.

The future of Taragalte is looking as bright and colourful as their designs, as they have made multiple TV appearances since their launch earlier this year, coupled with fashion week appearances. Imane explains: “We are proud to have had the opportunity to promote our brand during Asian’s biggest fashion event this year, the Apsara Fashion Week in Kazakhstan, in the mythical city of Taraz. We are also invited to participate in one of the biggest fashion week events in Europe – the Marbella and Serbia Fashion Week, and will be partnering up with the world’s first International Digital Fashion Week (IDFW) on 1st September.”

In the era where diversity in fashion is more important than ever, we are delighted to welcome emerging brands that focus not just on the design aspect, but look at exploring new, creative ways of bringing a sense of interconnectedness and change through fashion, thus adding cultural diversity to new aspects of our lives – starting with our wardrobes.
