What is creativity to you?

Creativity is a release of energy and emotions that expresses our inner most desires into some kind of tangible form.

Last time you laughed?

Right now! I’m listening to a pretty good techno mix on Soundcloud where the hype man is like jumping in between songs saying pretty silly things to describe the vibe. I’m feeling it. Laughing.

What does your work mean to you?

Everything. My work is everything to me.

What is your favourite part of the creative process?

All stages of the process are very interesting and important and I can’t really say, which one is my favourite.

But there is always a very special moment – seeing my garment come to life in the end. For the last couple of years, since I have been working with musicians, it is amazing to see the musicians express themselves through their music and out to their audience, while wearing my clothing. That is a very satisfying feeling.

Someone you’ve always wanted to dress?

Björk. I would also love to dress PJ Harvey, Sade and the incredible Icelandic duo CYBER!

Who inspires you?

One of my idols and influencers is the world’s first female president, Ms. Vigdís Finnbogadóttir. I admire her mainly for her fight for equality and the way she altered the society’s view on a woman of authority. How was she supposed to dress when she didn’t have the weapon of authority that the tailored, masculine suit is perceived as? She developed her own strong sense of style eliciting the respect and responses she was entitled to as president, an equal to a man.

Haute Couture fascinates me, with its strict rules and rich history. The deep respect for the garments and how they are simply seen as high art. To me clothes are items of art, clothes can perform, can be a performance and it is simply up to us how we choose to stage that performance each day in our own lives.

This is why my interests lie mostly in the field of womenswear. I want to weaponize my clients, I want to give them a garment that expresses, that excites, that evokes emotion. I want people, women in particular, to realise how powerful a piece of clothing can be, that we can indeed look at it as a societal weapon. It can instill respect, adoration, fear, and sometimes even loathing in the eye of the spectator.

What do you think when you hear the word “sustainability”?

Away is not a place. Everyone has to take a responsible step towards sustainability. We need to redesign what is fashionable. Fashion is a mirror of the time we live in and sustainability is fashionable.

Where do you seen yourself in 5 years?

I can see myself creating new wonders for the world to see.
