SFW SS21 – Rodebjer <3 IggyJeans: A Throwback 80s Delight

What links Rodebjer and IGGYJEANS other than being Stockholm-based brands that create beautiful and unique garments? A passion for sustainability and upcycling. This season, the two have teamed up to create a limited edition, upcycled collection, that uses Rodebjer garments from up to five years back.

Sustainability and up-cycling was never just a trend for me nor Rodebjer. I have always loved the resourcefulness of clothing being reused and bought over and over again and nowadays it feels more modern than ever. Part of circular fashion is to also see the potential in what could be labeled as ‘waste’ to be a new item and cherished again.

She adds: “When I first met Ingrid, I got struck by her sky-high ambition of turning the lowly into the exceptional, her joyous sense of colour, and the originality of expression. Her mighty talent is all of her own – she will go far, no doubt, and it feels great to give her a space and a platform in our ‘home’.”

Big, bold, and 80s were a few words that immediately came to mind when I first saw the collaboration. With base colours of white, black, beige, and blue denim, these limited edition pieces were taken to the next level with big, graphic-like prints in neon pink, yellow, purple, and even a zingy, mint-green dress. All of the denim has been hand-painted in fun and unique shapes to create a very dramatic look, and I need it all.

The sunglasses are undoubtedly one of the most statement-worthy pieces of the collection; with three different styles to choose from, these uniquely created accessories demand attention, and will definitely have you stick out from the crowd. Personally, the tall black boots with yellow accents were one of my favoyrites, and they are the perfect statement piece if you are rocking an all-black outfit – which is always, let’s be honest. The oversized Rodebjer sweater with the IGGYJEANS logo is extremely comfortable and a must-have if you’re wanting an artistically-styled sweatshirt that isn’t too flashy.

Fashion is about inventing, experimenting, taking risks, and having fun. For me as a young creative I am thrilled to be collaborating with Carin Rodebjer who has been a role model since many years, and create new and surprising designs that doesn’t cause any impact to the planet. She is very courageous, kind, and above all inspirational.
