Say Hello Good Buy To The New Chic Pawn Shop in Copenhagen

Hello Good Buy opened its doors to Copenhageners last week. Being the number one fans of sustainability initiatives in fashion that we are, it was no surprise that we were there to pay them a warm welcome. Located in Frederiksberg, Hello Good Buy builds on a concept that is sustainable through and through – even the in-store furniture and other inventory was is pre-used.

It should be easy to shop sustainably – that’s why Hello Good Buy offers money and points for clothes, shoes and accessories that you no longer need.

Here’s how it works – you can deliver a maximum of 15 pieces of clothing each time, where each piece is evaluated on the spot, and you are given either 25% of the estimated re-selling price, or a 40% store credit. Everything in Hello Good Buy is carefully selected and evaluated with quality and style as primary measures, so there’s always a unique assortment of fabulous pre-loved items. And we know this is true after our visit – the prices were great and affordable, and the goodies were aplenty!

Hello Good Buy was founded by Norwegian entrepreneur Sarah Elise Gjemdal. At our visit we got the chance to have a short talk with Sarah, where among other things, she told us how she grew up in a small town in Norway with no second-hand shops whatsoever. From there, Sarah’s idea of making second-hand more accessible and chic started evolving.

The first shop opened in 2017 in Norway, after the company received an entrepreneurial position with the environmental organisation Climate-KIC and 50,000 NOK in support. Sarah explains how she aspires to encourage young people to wear pre-loved clothing, and to spread the idea that you don’t have to buy and wear new in order to look good. Inspired by the current sustainability waves in the Copenhagen fashion scene, Sarah decided to move the concept to Denmark and open a store there instead. Her dream is to open even more stores in Copenhagen, and develop the concept into a chain, spreading the love for pre-loved clothing and contributing to the recycling revolution as much as she can.

Our desire is to be an obvious alternative to fast fashion – for that reason, we do not compromise on style, quality or price. We are not perfect, but we are a great option, if we are to say so ourselves.

Congratulations Sarah on your shop opening and we hope that Hello Good Buy grow into the huge success it deserves to be! Make sure to visit the store at Gammel Kongevej 167E and browse their wonderful selection.
