Nordic Getaways: Iceland’s 5 Million Star Hotel
I have a riddle for you. Imagine yourself in a forest surrounded by pure silence, far away from your busy city life. You’re not cold, but surrounded by snow. You’re lying down on a bed, looking up at a sky full of stars and northern lights. Where are you?

You might think you’re on another planet, but in fact you’re in Iceland, not far from the capital city, Reykjavík, staying at Buubble hotel. You’re staying in a little bubble, but you’re not an alien. You have your best friend or a loved one with you, as there’s plenty of room for two in this cosy, heated world.
Buubble – a concept hotel combining luxury, innovation and magical landscapes, has two forest locations, one in Ölvisholt, near the South coast, and one in Hrosshagi, near the Golden Circle. Although you may be staying in the middle of a forest, both locations are easily accessible and not far from a fully stocked town, where you can stock up on supplies for your stay.
Want to watch the sunrise from the comfort of your bed with a cup of coffee? Check. Want to celebrate a birthday with a tasty IPA from the local brewery? Check. Or want a romantic rose petal setup for a special anniversary? Check. Your stay includes your own personal bubble for two people and access to toilets and showers, which are a mere 50m from your room. I stayed at Buubble and have to admit, the facility is perfectly and safely situated – a perfect pit-stop to enjoy the country from with all the necessary amenities. They adhere to strict COVID-19 hygiene regulations, but because the rooms can only accommodate 2 people and the ‘hotel’ is outdoors, they are still taking bookings, perfect for a weekend getaway from the city.
Staying at Buubble is simple, impressive and memorable. The hotel have just decreased their prices, so you can book your stay from just 19.920 ISK per night – just remember to switch off the lights and enjoy the wondrous views!
