How to Look and Feel Good While Working from Home
As our new way of being is with more time spent at home, we have started to question why we really should dress in clothes that only look nice but feel uncomfortable, and why we should beautify ourselves with makeup that harms our skin. As we’re not living in the 18th century anymore, uncomfortable clothing and toxic makeup seems like a ridiculous option to go for, and with the lockdown we’ve seen a shift in consumer behaviour, as time spent reflecting on our values has turned into action. A sustainable wardrobe that reflects a slower lifestyle and makeup with skin caring properties is what we want to have with us in everyday life, and to cheer up our meetings.

Style and comfort
Uhana is a Finnish clothing brand who dress everyday adventurers. Not necessarily your wildlife adventurer who’s travelling the world and climbing mountains, but the everyday adventurer you pass by on the street. The theme for their A/W 2020 collection is the ‘Search of Happiness’ and embraces the fact of happiness coming from the small things in our everyday life. Uhana creates beautiful designs that are stylish and comfortable regardless of whether you’re outside, lounging at home or on a Zoom meeting.

The dark patterns in Uhana’s latest collection invite us to take a closer look and see the beauty in the finer things – the intricate design, the soft fabrics (silk and merino wool) and the flattering silhouettes. We often think that in order to find happiness, we have to do something bold, but true happiness is more often than not hidden in the fleeting moments of life: smiling passers by, sun-drenched minutes while waiting for the bus, or just small moments of being truly present. During busy and chaotic times it is even more important that we protect ‘the secret gardens growing inside us’, and give time for inner growth and embrace our imperfections.
“Flowers have always been a way of passing on messages. This autumn, we are inspired by the strength of Protea blooms that defy notions of traditional beauty, and the message of courage and strength that the flower stands for.”
Natural, multi-use makeup
As we’ve been forced to slow down and spend more time at home and with ourselves, an increased interest in skincare has hit the cosmetic industry. While the future is still vague, we have seen a shift in buying patterns, with people taking time to research and buy products, making sure they know what they are feeding their skin. After diving into the ‘Korean 10 step skincare routine’ and having atleast as many different makeup products for creating the ‘no makeup’ makeup look, we’re now narrowing it down to only the essentials. And when it comes to makeup, multi-use products that not only beautify, but nourish and protect your skin are being favoured. More brands are launching multi-use products to answer their customers needs, but Finnish makeup brand Korento has had this philosophy from the very start.

Korento was born out of a passion to create natural makeup, that work as good as synthetic makeup, but nourishes and protects your skin at the same time. Korento’s signature is their Berry Active Complex – an oil blend that enriches all of their makeup products, providing your skin with antioxidants and vitamins. The blend contains lingonberry, blueberry, sea buckthorn and black currant (all superfoods of the North), as well as A-vitamin rich rosehip oil.
We love brands that embrace slow living, natural body care and longevity. What are your go-to clothing items and makeup products for a ‘good you day’? And what other slow loving brands do you love? Let us know!
