Iceland Airwaves Presents ‘Live in Reykjavík’ Virtual Festival This November

Iceland Airwaves 2020 may be cancelled, but it doesn’t mean the team were going to just sit on their hands for the rest of the year. On 13th and 14th November, Iceland Airwaves and dice.fm will be streaming a series of live shows from a host of incredible Icelandic musicians including GDRN, Ólafur Arnalds, Hatari, Of Monsters and Men and many, many more.

The festival will be broadcast in Iceland on TV and radio as well as available to watch online across the UK and Europe at 7:30PM GMT on 13th and 14th November, and then across the U.S. and Australasia from 7:30PM local time. The shows are the perfect way to celebrate Icelandic music and Iceland Airwaves and it is a rare opportunity to catch some of Iceland’s greatest musicians on one festival line-up, from the comfort of your living room.

We wanted to find a way to shine a spotlight on the vast talent of the music scene here in Iceland, as well as support the larger industry and show some innovation. To have all these artists in Iceland at the same time is a ‘lighting strikes once’ moment, and we wanted to seize it with both hands.
— Ísleifur Þórhallsson, Festival Director

Over the two days, Of Monsters and Men will perform one of their most intimate sets in years, Ásgeir will take us through one of his latest releases ‘Bury the Moon’ and Ólafur Arnalds will premier music from his upcoming album ‘Some Kind of Peace’ which is to be released the week before the festival on 6th November. The line-up is diverse, exciting and definitely a once-in-a-lifetime event (all of these acts are usually off touring relentlessly), so you are not going to want to miss this!
