CPHFW AW19 – Designers’ Nest: Love Is In The Details

The Designers’ Nest Awards are always something that we look forward to attending, as it is so exciting to see what the future of design has to offer, and there are so many different, beautiful creations on display. It almost feels like multiple fashion shows, all at once. This time it was no exception, the 10 finalists of Designers’ Nest blew our minds with their contributions! All the creativity, color and artistry left us feeling high on inspiration. We would love to write about all of the contestants, but we would be here for a long time, so here are our top three!

Matilda Envall

Matilda Envall’s collection came on the catwalk with a refreshing power-splash of pretty shades of pink! Instantly we though girl-power, and were excited by the extreme play with shape and silhouettes, that Matilda introduced. We felt as if the dresses could be a symbol of fertility, a flower in blossom and an expression of the many shapes a female body takes on. She worked beautifully with print design and the details were elaborate. It was such an exquisite, feminine and powerful display!

Linda Aasaru

This collection entered the scene with a fresh breeze of pastels. The silhouettes were feminine, and the fabrics floated gently across the runway leaving us in awe. We loved how Linda Aasaru played with graphic textile designs, along with denimwear motifs printed on soft fabrics, which made the collection very interesting mix, and caused you to look twice. Linda Aasaru created unpredictable illusions that that made us think and were very refreshing.

Tuuli-Tytti Koivula

Tuuli received 2nd place in the competition, and she sure did deserve to be in the top three! Her collection was inspired by a ‘crazy granny’ kind of style, and we adored it! Tuuli-Tytti used materials in a very innovative way, combining different textures and incorporating trashed plastic in her garments. Her dresses included contrasting elements like soft ruffles and pointy, metal spikes. On another garment she combined seethrough, glittery tulle with glossy vinyl, a favourite mix of ours! The color combination was intriguing too – shades of orange mixed with mint green and pink – it was a very pretty palette. We were truly amazed by the detailing on Tuuli-Tytti‘s garments and the bountiful play with styling and layers. We we left wondering where and how we could buy some of her astonishing maxi-blouses – this was absolut true love!
