We fell in love with Icelandic-born, New York-based artist Shoplifter (Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir) a while ago and if you didn’t read our article talking about her latest work earlier on in the year, then do it now!
Inspired by colour, texture and humanity, Hrafnhildur makes art out of hair: ‘it’s a fiber that grows on everyone’s body and demands a certain creativity or problem solving for most people when it comes to choosing your hairstyle or how to tame it or not.’ Her collaboration with & Other Stories is an extension of her creative ethos and takes her exciting signature style into another dimension.
‘I wanted this collection to be colourful, playful and humorous. Everything in the collection can be paired with closet staples, making them pop whenever you want to stand out.’
The collection is uplifting, bright and very fuzzy, a true nod to creative freedom, texture and the brighter days. There’s t-shirts, leggings, phone cases, jewellery and a particularly colourful anorak that I was unfortunately too late to snap up and is now sold out *sad face*. My favourite thing about Shoplifter as an artist and the collaboration is that it is fun and different, and this is something I feel a lot of fashion lacks lately – there’s plenty of room for clothing that takes itself a little less seriously and makes you smile while the sun is shining.
Everything on offer is a statement piece which can be worn perfectly alongside plainer clothes or with other pieces from the collection for an out-there vibrant look. Some of my favourite pieces are the suede platform sneakers (the perfect beige trainers if you ask me) and the matching Tuft Call sweater and leggings, who doesn’t want to be head-to-toe awesome!? & Other Stories and Shoplifter should both be very proud of such a fun and bold collection and I would not be surprised if we saw more clothing/accessory collaborations from Shoplifter in the future.
The collection is available to shop from & Other Stories’ online store and in their Regent Street store in London, but get buying fast as pieces are already selling out!
