I love it when people don’t take interior design too seriously. Trying to stay true to a favorite concept or style can become counter-intuitive, resulting in a space that is either too crowded and chaotic or minimalistic to the point of appearing sterile.
Mixing playful items into the styling of a home can be the cherry on top of a beautifully designed space and demonstrate the personality of those living there. The way this home is decorated emphasizes and celebrates the fact that there are children in the home in a subtle way that complements the overall look.
Contemporary clean-cut Scandinavian fixtures throughout he apartment serve to elevate an eclectic mix of 70’s style furniture, a collection of LEGO paraphernalia, industrial light fixtures and the focal point of the living area and my personal favorite – the gorgeous collection of botanical illustration posters that covers the wall of the dining area.
The building, located in Stockholm’s Kungsholmen, was designed by architect Erik Lallerstedt and built in 1936 and was converted into a residential building in 2006 by architect Love Arbén.
The layout is very clever as the incredibly high ceilings actually serve to create more floor space with two separate lofts, one of which overlooks the living area and has the potential to be the reading-nook of my dreams.
Take a look at the amazing photos – courtesty of Fantastic Frank real estate – and if you happen to have 9,35 million Swedish kronor laying around then by all means buy the place – and then invite me over for lunch!
