FWSthlm – Maria Nilsdotter AW16

Maria Nilsdotter has become well-known for her wearable and arty collections. Her AW16 collection was displayed at Berns during day two of Fashion Week in Stockholm.

The collection for Maria Nilsdotter AW16 – The Treasure – comprised of over 90 new pieces, showcased her extravagant inspirations by starting the show with a magnificent ballet performance. Following the billowing ballet bird, models zigzagged their way down the runway, with male and female models showing off the ornate, handmade creations.

Gold is the main metal of the season, with intricate necklaces; earrings, tiaras and rings offset with diamonds, black diamonds and rainbow coloured gemstones.

As the clothing was not the focal point of the evening, Maria Nilsdotter’s stylist, Mary Montti, chose to dress the models in skin-tight bodysuits, playsuits and leather pants. Neon pink, red and emerald green faux-fur stoles and bags gave a spark of colour and added a little bit to the grungy frivolity of the collection.

An exception to the nonchalance was the final outfit, a gorgeous mesh ball gown with gold accents on the skirt and a gold feather tiara reminiscent of a sun gods crown. Definitely a piece for the daring!

  • The collection is called Prisma not The treasure, it was the last collection. And it was real fur not faux! 🙂
