In true rock star style Acne Studios presented their S/S 16 collection in luxurious Hôtel Potocki in the 8e arrondissement in Paris this past week. A truly rebellious collection that evokes the rawness of the underground punk scene in New York City of the 1970’s and 80’s with a touch of Scandinavian Design at its best.
The collection evokes the free spirit of a time when the power suit and glam rock decidedly ignored the lines between masculinity and femininity in an effort to express themselves through their rebellious style of their own creation rather than being defined by the style of the day..
Acne Studios Spring/Summer 2016 “Musicians make their own fashion. It’s a personal expression that I find very inspiring. I love it when they project their own style, and create a DIY look. It’s not about fashion, it’s about the attitude, clothes that are direct and spontaneous.” – Jonny Johansson, Creative Director
From Moroccan sandals to men’s retro jackets this collection will bring back memories to those who lived in the 70’s and 80’s and it will allow us newer generations to bring a little bit of classic punk into the kingdom of Swift and Delevigne. The short hairdos, the bangs and the power jackets complement Acne’s “in your face” Scandinavian female empowerment reclaiming punk for a new generation.
The collection is like a classic music video coming to life, the modern details are perfectly paired with the nostalgia of a long gone era where punk defined pop culture. Here are some of our favorite outfits from the Paris show.
