The line was first launched in 2006 as a diffusion line to the namesake collection of the designer and focuses more on conceptual designs.
The BACK S/S16 collection show was in Stora Salongen at Berns and was themed around a breakfast party. The guests were seated around small round tables and served orange juice in champagne glasses. Adding to the atmosphere were inflatable plastic palm trees. What set the show apart from most others is that it was in fact a “no” show. The collection was only presented for the guests backstage, where the garments were found hanging on racks. Quite a unique presentation!
The main colours of the collection are beach colours: sand, orange, creamy white, forest green and gold. Solid colours prevailed, with the exception of a cloudy sky print, giving a focal point to the lazy day summer feeling.
A focus was put on layering of the garments, with abstract, rounded shapes in the tailoring and cut-outs allowing the garments to peek out and present a well-styled collection. All garments had their own character and most of them are stand-out key pieces for a fashion collector.
Favourites are definitely the thick corduroy socks – with sandals, of course, and the structured straw bags. And let’s not forget the BACK staple: oversized safety pins, this time in the shape of sunglasses!
