Ida Sjöstedt was the one to kick off Stockholm Fashion Week at Berns Stora Salongen this Monday morning. Despite the early hour, the salon was jam-packed with people.
Her collection for Spring/Summer 2016 is titled “Summer of Love” but Ida’s latest call to fame was when she designed the wedding dress for Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip’s wedding this past June. This collection was very reminiscent of the royal marriage, with romantic elements which Ida Sjöstedt is known for in her designs prominently featured. Floral embroidery and prints were brought to life with beautiful pastel colours in whites, pinks and reds, with peach and brown giving further depth to the dreamy princess gowns.
While the overall silhouette of the collection was profoundly romantic royalty, influences from the 70’s – which were also favoured by designers over at Copenhagen Fashion Week – could be seen in the flowing gowns, flared trousers and feminine cut of the more casual outfits.
