It’s that time of year again. The time when Reykjavík is filled with enthusiasm and curiosity, the time when eager souls wander between showrooms, events and exhibitions looking to experience something that pushes their creative boundaries and broadens their horizons. It’s time for the seventh annual DesignMarch, which is set to take place in the coming week.
The event – a large scale design festival – features design in every shape and form, from fashion and interior design to interactive creating and performance art. The city virtually comes alive with creative energy.
It formally starts on Thursday with DesignTalks – a series of talks by prominent figures in the design world. This year the theme of DesignTalks is “Play Away”, with speakers emphasizing the importance of play to the creative process, in a field where innovation and originality are key.
The following days are filled with numerous events that are as different as they are many – a variety that insures there will be something for everyone.
With most of the events opening on Wednesday and Thursday and going on throughout the weekend, we encourage everyone to take the time to stroll around the city and take in the exhilirating current of creativity.
The weekend will be especially exciting since DesignMarch coincides with Reykjavík Fashion Festival – where six Icelandic fashion designers showcase their collections in runway shows at Harpa concert hall.
We will of course be attending as many events as possible and keeping you informed of the happenings of the festival, here on the blog as well as on instagram @nordicstylemag and twitter: twitter.com/nordicstylemag
