Acne Studios Pre-Fall 2015

Acne Studios showed their pre-fall collection for 2015 in Paris on Tuesday. The collection features a mix of various materials like tweed, lace, wool and leather, and that’s just to name a few. It’s artsy, cool, wonderfully weird and wearable all at the same time.

The inspiration was drawn from the independent women of the 1930s. The women who started borrowing clothes from boys and who dared to brake the norms and compete in sports. Jonny Johansson, creative director and co-founder of Acne, was also inspired by the feminism movement that’s been distinct in Sweden since the elections in September.

Oversized knits, heavy coats and scarves tied around the whole upper-body are mixed with feminine skirts in lace. Pieces in different forms of the classic tweed meet shirts and skirts in a houndstooth pattern. The mixing of patterns and materials as well as the bulky shoes give the looks a quirky feeling. The feminine vibes stay subtle yet recognizable and the hair and make-up is kept androgynous. The gloves are long and the turtleneck is seen in many looks, the layering is a distinguishing element throughout the whole collection and its styling. The statement “Say no to drugs” can be seen on colorful pills on a classic jacket with frayed hems.
