How often have you purchased clothes online to then find out that it would have been better to order in another size? The goal of the Danish company Fitbay is to solve that issue. It essentially helps online shoppers to discover clothes in the right size and style.
Fitbay is available on the web as well as a free iOS app. The app has been well received by both men and women and is closing in on 100,000 users primarily in the US and UK. Fitbay can now recommend over 4 million products – from high street brands, exclusive designer labels, to niche items drawn from smaller online boutiques.
Christian Wylonis, Founder & CEO of Fitbay comments:
“We created Fitbay because we were tired of returning clothes that we bought online. I’m 6’2 with a long upper body, which made it difficult to buy shirts that were long enough. I wanted to create a service that made it easy to discover new clothes in the right size made for someone like me. We quickly realized how many people, especially women, had problems finding clothes made for their body type. Through a ‘social network for your body type’ we could create a service for getting relevant fashion inspiration in the right size from people like yourself.”
It basically presents you with a personalised overview of clothes in the right size, fit, and style. You’ll answer 5 simple questions about your body and connect with people who share your body shape to swap reviews of brands and styles that suit your size and shape. No measuring! What’s great is also the possibility of filtering clothes by brands and the detailed review, I might just purchase jeans via the site for the first time online.
Fitbay is for men too
Always helpful to get more details, like how loose a top is
The site is also a social network for connecting with people who share your body shape. Use the “Body Doubles” section to find users that share your size and style and follow the ones that inspire you. You will then receive notifications when they recommend products that could be appropriate for you.
Signing up is quick and your information is confidential, try Fitbay and see if you find clothes that fit.
In June 2014, Fitbay closed a USD 2 million investment from Creandum (early investor in Spotify) and New York-based Steadfast Venture Capital. Fitbay was founded in Copenhagen in 2013 and is headquartered in New York City.
