Fashion News: Anne Sofie Madsen and Asger Juel Larsen nominated for the Woolmark Prize

The Woolmark Prize is a prestigious prize that has as a main focus the transformation of wool appliance in a fashion-forward way. The Australian Woolmark brand is the world’s best-known textile fibre brand. As for the Woolmark logo we can find on our garments, is the license used by only Woolmark members and is an independent quality endorsement.

The two Danish talents: Anne Sofie Madsen and Asger Juel Larsen were nominated for the 2015 Woolmark Prize. The competition is divided into two parts. In the first part designers from 5 different continents, including Europe, Asia, Australia, USA and India/Middle East, compete against participants from the same continent. The designer, who wins the first round, receives a prize of 250.000 DKK and an invitation to the second round. The second part is the competition of the 5 winners from the 5 continents. These designer will be presenting their collection in either Beijing or London, depending on the category. In Beijing womenswear category will be presented in March 2015, while in London the menswear in January 2015.  The jury includes influential names like Gucci’s Frida Giannini, IT-girl Alexa Chung, Editor-in-Chief of Style.com Tim Blanks and Vogue Italy’s Franca Sozzani. After the dream jury announces the winner of 2015’s Woolmark Prize, the designer will win the final prize of over 500.000 DKK and their collection will be sold in international stores like Colette in Paris, Harvey Nichols in London, and Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, NYC, plus on the luxury online-store mytheresa.com.

Previous winners of the Woolmark Prize include Christian Wijnants from Antwerp, Belgium as the 2013 winner, while this year’s winner was Rahul Mishra from India.
