The first official day of Copenhagen Fashion Week included numerous influential brands from the Danish fashion industry, but the most remarkably enchanting fashion shows was that of Danish male duo, Han Kjøbenhavn. The fashion brand has usually incorporated a sport in their fashion show. Last season, for the S/S 2014 collection it was table tennis, this time it was biking. The venue of the fashion show was the National Museum of Denmark. The setting was created horizontally and masked models were awaiting for us in their own framed “houses”. Han Kjøbenhavn initiated a whole new revolution with their Autumn/Winter 2014 collection. The music incorporated strong drum sounds, while all models were carrying gas masks on their face. The models wearing the collection were standing on a carriage that was attached to a three-wheeled bike. The end part of the carriage had a waving black flag. The bike drivers were body-builders. The contrast was built up pleasantly for the eye, since the whole catwalk was black, while the carriage and bike were painted white. The whole fashion show was a dramatic appearance with a strong statement and captivating impression.
The menswear collection of Han Kjøbenhavn is inspired by geometry, playing around with the basic shapes, like squares, triangles and circles. The results are graphical prints and details achieved through silhouettes, materials and artworks. As usual, the designer duo payed a lot of attention to tailoring using traditional lambswool and merino wool. For the A/W 2014 collection, the fabric choices extended towards the adding of neoprene, mesh and hand-died indigo cotton, which was unexpected for the fashion brand. The colour choices were leaning towards classical winter shades, including the Han Kjøbenhavn’s favorite color: grey. But also the typical colour combination of black & white, as well as lighter hints of blue and grey.
