Birgitte Hjort Sørensen’s favorites

Whos your favorite designer?

Malene Birger. I went to her fashion show yesterday and there wasn’t one outfit that I didn’t want. Otherwise, I have a good friend who designs eco friendly clothes, under the name of Ecouture. She has a theatrical background as well. The clothes are very sculptural and feminine, and the environmental aspect is something that appeals to me.

Whats your favorite city to go to?

I love Copenhagen.  Every time I’ve been abroad, I’ve loved coming home. But right now, London is a favorite of mine as well. I’ve been there a lot and I worked there a couple of years ago and it has a special place in my heart.

Whats your favorite movie?

It is always difficult to pick one out, but I usually mention Strictly Ballroom. I really enjoy the theatrical aspect of Baz Luhrmann’s films, and I especially like this one because it’s about dancing, which I love. Compared to Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge, it’s at a much smaller scale but it has depth and a cult-like feel. At the same time, it’s hilarious and touching. It’s a fairytale.

Whats your favorite item in your closet?

I have a black dress from Danish brand, Karen by Simonsen, which is very simple but beautiful and it’s good for every occasion.

Whats fun?

Spending time with good friends, having dinner, drinking wine, and dancing.

Whats your favorite beauty product?

I have a lip balm from Rosebud that has a little mint in it – I never leave home without it.

Whats your beauty routine?

I like to keep it simple. I rinse my face every night. But when I’m not working I try to use minimal make up. At work, my skin is plastered with everything so, when I’m off, I try to go completely bare and give it a rest!

The last thing you bought for your closet?

I bought a gray cardigan from Samsøe & Samsøe the other day. It’s sort of quilted and very warm and comfy. I like comfortable clothes with an edge.

What is the best advice you have ever gotten?

Just do it.
