It´s that time of year again! Music lovers from all over flock to Iceland´s capital, Reykjavík, for one of the most exciting music festivals in Europe. Iceland Airwaves is being held for the 14th time in Reykjavík this weekend (31 Oct – 4 Nov) and now it´s bigger than ever!
Some of the world´s most exciting up and coming artists have performed at the Iceland Airwaves over the years and surely this year will be no different. 223 bands are performing over the next five days on the official schedule and most of the concerts are long sold out! But not to worry, there are 463 off-venue concerts in 31 different locations around the city´s center open to everyone.
So music enthusiasts can enjoy the best of Icelandic music –seen and some hip upcoming bands from around the globe. Among the bigger names this year are Icelandic bands Sigur Rós, Of Monsters and Men, Gus Gus and Mugison as well as foreign bands like Dirty Projectors (US) and Daughter (UK) along with some hot Scandinavian bands like Danish group Nelson Can, Swedish duo I Break Horses and Norwegians singer Hanne Kolstö to name a few.
